Challenge VII awards Sybil points for authenticating your ownership of a social platform account. Eligible social platforms are: Stackexchange, Github, Twitter, Reddit.Social media accounts contain some information about unique personhood, especially when a person’s account has existed for a long period of time and has significant reputation. To make this challenge Sybil resistant, eligibility thresholds are included on account age and activity. If you subscribed to the (now discontinued) Gyroscope email newsletter you may receive an email from ‘[email protected]’ with a unique POAP claim code.Make sure to use that claim code before 2022–01–28 after which the claim code will expire.

Challenge VI is connected with the previous level 2.5 from the summer. In Level 2.5, users were asked to commit to their Github, Twitter, and/or phone number. This challenge verifies that information.This challenge was paused to make several changes to the backend in order to improve the user experience and resolve common issues of getting verified:

1. Github & Twitter names are standardized with more tolerance, e.g. allow for @ in username; support URLs to username; disable case sensitivity

2. Twitter verification: improved verification UX; fixed error message

3. Phone verification: phone number verification now supports CN phone numbers

The results of the Discord challenge are now live. The community determined which Sybil explanations were valid after filtering submissions programmatically (e.g. check for length or uniqueness).Valid Sybil explanations received full Sybil points (i.e., ‘2’). Partial Sybil points (i.e., ‘1’) were allocated to every person who pasted their address in the dedicated channel. If you received ‘0’ Sybil points you did not pass the challenge. Alternatively you might have posted an invalid address or posted multiple addresses from the same account.As a reminder — Challenge V required a Discord account with a linked phone number to participate and asked participants to write a short paragraph on the relevance of Sybil resistance. The challenge was only open during a short time-period and ended with requiring participants posting their address as ‘proof of attendance’. Further information on Challenge V is available here.

As the development of the Gyroscope V1 protocol software is moving into the final stages, the first piece of the Gyroscope codebase has been submitted to Trail of Bits. This audit includes the code for a key part of the Gyroscope protocol — the P-AMM — and thus marks an important milestone.Over the coming weeks additional audits will be carried out to cover the remaining parts of the codebase and ensure that eventual change requests are safely implemented. Once completed, Gyro DAO will be able to launch Gyro V1.

The earlier levels of the Gyro Testnet Game have been closed.For now, only people who already participated may continue with the final level that aims to establish a Sybil resistant community. This further helps with preventing a single person from creating multiple digital representations by, for example, using bots.These early levels may be re-opened nearer to launch to showcase the new protocol code.
