As a reminder, the goal of the Frog Games is to ensure Sybil resistance. Sybil resistance prevents a single person from creating multiple digital representations by, for example, using bots.As FTL Labs, the core team was given a mandate to develop Gyroscope v1. In order to be both legitimate and successful, the system must be decentralized and community-driven. Sybil protections are the very basic measure to make it happen. Sybil challenges will be as diverse and inclusive as possible and each user will be able to participate in enough challenges to demonstrate beyond reasonable doubt that they are a unique identity.As such, Challenge VI of the Frog Game has been launched.For general information on the Rules of the Frog Game see below.

Challenge VI is connected with a previous level from the summer. In Level 2.5 users were asked to provide as much of the following information as they were willing and an optional salt:

• Github ID

• Twitter ID

• Phone number

In this challenge, you can increase your Sybil score by confirming that you control the accounts you committed to in Level 2.5. The confirmation will occur either via an OAuth log-in of GitHub and Twitter, or via providing a verification code that will be sent to your phone number.Importantly we will store no sensitive information about your social accounts or phone number. Necessary information to ensure accounts are used only once will only be stored as a hash that includes a salt. Since this challenge relies on hashed information, all data must be entered in exactly the correct way; any changed character in the .json file would change the hash and lead to not being able to pass the challenge. As such, only the original .json file generated in Level 2.5 will be accepted. Using this file guarantees that information is entered correctly.While you have hopefully not lost this .json file, you can try to recreate it following the instructions in the Discord FAQ channel; however, it will be up to you to recreate it exactly as before. Please continue to store your .json file, because it may yet be used again in future challenges.

This challenge contributes to Sybil resistance by requiring users to commit to pre-existing social accounts. First, for Twitter and Github, your account will need to be older than 30 June 2021, shortly before this level was announced, to be able to pass verification with that account. Second, you needed to commit well in advance of the Frog Games to this information, which makes it harder to game as the Sybil checks were not yet known. In this way, the age of a user’s commitment provides some additional information about the quality of this Sybil check, which may affect the final weighting of Sybil points from this level (but for now you can ignore this until the conclusion of the game).Lastly, delayed verification requires users to retain their social accounts for an extended period of time. This should not be a problem for real users, but helps in deterring bot accounts. Typically, bot accounts are not detected during the signup process, but flagged over time. By delaying the verification, platforms like Twitter should have had sufficient time to detect & deactivate bot accounts.

To get started, go to the game UI and upload the .json file from level 2.5.

Subsequently, you may log-in via Github and Twitter, or ​​provide the confirmation code sent to you via SMS to confirm your phone number.

That’s it. If you are successful, a green “Verified” will appear. You may have to reload the page.

Level 4 will pose a series of challenges that can be solved by humans but are difficult for bots. With every successfully passed challenge it is thus a bit more certain that the respective address is controlled by a single human and not a bot.

For each challenge passed, players will gain ‘sybil points’. At the end of the game, each player needs enough Sybil points to pass.There is no way to tell in advance how many challenges you must complete or how many points are awarded per challenge. The challenges are not structured by difficulty or the amount of granted Sybil points.

Importantly, different challenges may grant different amounts of Sybil points. Players may decide to not participate in a given challenge, but should be wary of the fact that the safest way to passing Level 4 is to pass as many challenges as possible. To repeat: there is no need to pass every challenge.

Multiple other challenges will be launched over the next coming weeks. This will give players sufficient opportunity to participate and make trade-offs between gaining as many Sybil points as possible and their wish to not disclose certain information. So there is no need to pass every single challenge.
